Hezbollah Leader Rejects Israeli Security Zones, Defends Lebanon's Sovereignty Amidst Escalation

According to Reuters, on the evening of the 21st local time, Naim Kassis, leader of Hezbollah in Lebanon, said in a television speech that it is unlikely for Israeli troops to be stationed in Lebanon for an extended period, and that any cross-border actions by Israel would be counterattacked. At the same time, Kassis rejected any attempt by Israel to establish security zones within Lebanon.

Kasim also said that Lebanon has its own national army, which is responsible for safeguarding national sovereignty, and Hezbollah also cooperates with the Lebanese army.

He emphasized that “Israel is an aggressor, and must withdraw from Lebanon”.

Although the ceasefire agreement has officially taken effect, Israel insists that Israeli forces can act without restrictions to remove all threats in Lebanon.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the Israeli military will remain in southern Lebanon for an extended period until their objectives are achieved.

Lebanese state news agency reported on the 20th that Israel launched several rounds of air strikes against the Nabyteye region in southern Lebanon early that day, resulting in multiple casualties.

On the 20th, the Lebanese Civil Defense General Headquarters posted a statement on social media, stating that civil defense workers had been conducting evacuation, transfer, and rescue operations in the Nabeitey region of southern Lebanon since the morning of the same day. They had transported the remains of 16 victims and 12 injured people to hospitals, and evacuated 47 residents to safe areas.

Lebanese Ministry of Health reported on the 20th that since March 2nd, attacks by Israel have resulted in 4057 deaths, including 135 medical personnel and emergency responders. Additionally, 12,121 people were injured.
