North Korea Commissions New Multi-Purpose Destroyer

According to a report by the North Korean Central News Agency on the 24th, the ceremony for the commissioning of the new multi-purpose destroyer 'Choe Hyun' was held grandly in South Pyonggang Port on the 23rd. Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Korean Workers' Party and Chairman of the State Affairs Committee, attended the ceremony.

Reports say that the destroyer ‘Choi Hyun’ has completed its one-year and two-month evaluation procedure for operational capabilities, and is now officially in service with the Korean People’s Army Navy.

Kim Jong-un delivered a congratulatory speech at the ceremony, stating that the changes in the Korean Navy were not merely about increasing the size of ships and modernizing equipment, but rather changes in their status, missions, and areas of operation. He said that the Korean Navy is evolving into a military force with strategic capabilities.
