According to a report by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) on July 6, Tehchanenko, the head of the military and administrative authorities in Kyiv, Ukraine, reported that Kyiv was attacked by Russia, resulting in at least 9 deaths and 46 injuries.
According to Tekachenko, a ballistic missile launched by Russia struck several buildings in Kiev, and fires broke out in some apartment complexes. Rescue workers are currently conducting search and rescue operations, searching for trapped survivors among the debris of the buildings.
Several hours before the air raid, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy posted on social media that intelligence indicated Kiev was about to face a second round of massive Russian attacks. Previously, on February 2nd, Kiev had also been attacked by Russian drones and missiles, resulting in at least 30 deaths.

The attack occurred during a NATO summit that was scheduled to take place in Ankara, Turkey, from July 7th to 8th local time. Zelenskyy urged Western countries to continue providing military assistance to Ukraine. He wrote, “Any delay in the supply of our anti-aircraft missiles means the loss of lives, and he encouraged Russia to continue its military actions.”
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated on the 6th that in the early hours of that day, the Russian army launched large-scale retaliative strikes against targets in Kyiv and Kyivanoblasty. The main targets were military industrial complexes and fuel energy facilities. Additionally, strikes were carried out against the military airport infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Poltava Oblast, Cherkasy Oblast, Chernigov Oblast, and Kyiv Oblast.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the strike involved long-range high-precision weapons and attack drones, both airborne and land-based, as a response to Ukraine's attacks on civilian infrastructure within Russian territory.
