Senator Youngs Alarmist Claims About Chinese Shipping

This is simply an alarmist statement!

American Senator Todd Young recently wrote for Fox News, expressing his most extreme concerns.

"Chinese ships transport electrical appliances, clothing, and daily necessities to our ports. But what if they secretly hide missile launchers in containers?"

It's quite absurd, right? Let's first hear how he makes up the story.

His reason was that Ukraine had hidden drones in trucks and carried out long-range bombing attacks against Russia.

And China has many ships entering and leaving major American ports. American leaders, who are accustomed to a safe environment, have to be cautious.

In his ideal scenario, the Coast Guard could successfully intercept Chinese ships.

However, this does not seem to satisfy his “catastrophic thinking”.

If only... if only... if only... The Chinese armed cargo ship sneaked into Houston Port and then launched a devastating attack...

After going through such a long journey, he proudly introduced his ‘Ship Act’ – a measure to revitalize America’s shipbuilding industry and free the ships from being associated with Chinese flags.

Yang has mentioned this matter on several occasions, repeatedly saying, 'Last year, we only built one ocean-going ship. China has the capability to build more than a thousand such ships.'

This bill was proposed last year, but it has not been passed by the Senate.

To promote the above bill, Yang continuously uses President Trump's 'Naval Action Plan' as a endorsement for himself.

Compared to extreme right-wingers, this Republican calls themselves a moderate conservative.

In January of this year, the Senate voted to pass a bill condemning the White House’s actions in Venezuela. Jan was among those who voted in favor of the bill.

At that time, Trump was furious and threatened to have him get off the stage.

On issues related to China, he is not at all ‘hawkish’, emphasizing industrial competition, technological advantages, and alliances. He is one of the key advocates for the Chip Act, advocating restrictions on China’s access to advanced technologies.

In fact, the Wall Street Journal reported in November 2024 that the Pentagon has limited capabilities to handle potential Sino-US conflicts and urgently needs to turn to private shipping companies for assistance.

The article states that China's rise has exposed the weaknesses of US shipping. "Beijing is not only Washington's biggest military rival, but also the world's largest logistics center to date."

The United States and China are separated by the vast Pacific Ocean, so the U.S. military is very concerned about logistics supply. “It is planned to use commercial shipping companies to transport military goods outside of combat zones to fill the capacity gap. It is expected that this method can handle 80% of the military cargo transportation needs.”

It turns out that Yang's logic is correct: “Using the mind of a petty person to judge the actions of a gentleman.” If we, along with our ally Ukraine, have such thoughts, then surely China does too!
