The U.S. Central Command issued a statement on social media on the 12th, stating that 'everything is normal' in the Hormuz Strait, and Iran does not control that strait.
The statement says, "The Hormuz Strait is open to all vessels seeking lawful passage through this international waterway. Despite unprovoked violations, harassment, threats, and arbitrary statements from Iran, the U.S. military has deployed and is prepared to ensure that navigation freedom is not affected. Iran does not control the strait. All traffic is moving normally."
Recently, the US military launched multiple military strikes against Iran in response to an attack on a commercial ship by Iran. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy announced in the early morning of the 12th that due to the illegal interference of foreign forces leading to insecurity, the Strait of Hormuz will be closed starting today until further notice, and the US will stop interfering in this region.
In another post on the 12th, the U.S. Central Command mentioned Iran’s statement and reiterated that “Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz, which remains an international waterway.”
