U.S. Military Claims Control of Strait of Hormuz

According to Reuters, on August 13 local time, U.S. Defense Secretary Hagel stated that the U.S. military has sufficient resources to 'indefinitely maintain' a naval blockade against Iran.

He told reporters that day: 'The U.S. Navy can maintain such blockades indefinitely, and we will continue to rotate ships just as we have done in the past.'

On July 14th, the US military re-imposed a naval blockade on ships traveling between Iranian ports and coastal areas.

On August 12, U.S. President Trump wrote that the United States has full control over the Hormuz Strait. “I believe we will continue to have control over it!” He also said that Iran is powerless against this situation.

According to Iranian International Television (IRANINTL), on the 13th, Ali Azmaei, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy in Iran, stated that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed, and the military forces have full control over the passage through this waterway.
