Iran Submits Strategic Action Plan for Strait Security

On July 14 local time, Ibrahim Aziz, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, posted a statement on social media, stating that the Iranian Parliament officially introduced the 'Strategic Action Plan for Security and Sustainable Processes in the Hormuz Strait and the Persian Gulf' on the evening of the 13th.

Last night, as the United States drones were shot down, the Iranian Parliament officially submitted the "Hoholkizh Strait and Persian Gulf Security and Sustainability Strategy Action" bill. We remain unwavering in defending our red lines, especially concerning the management of the Hormuz Strait. Azi wrote, "This is the first step, with follow-up measures to be unveiled."

AFP reported that last week, the United States and Iran once again clashed over how to manage the Strait of Hormuz, which has raised uncertainties regarding the framework agreement signed last month to end the Middle East conflict.

On July 12, Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. On July 13, Trump posted on social media stating that the United States would resume maritime blockades against Iran and impose a 20% fee on all goods transported through the Strait of Hormuz.
