Ukraine under Russian missile attack, multiple buildings destroyed

From 1:25 to 1:48 on the morning of the 19th local time, reporters from Xinhua News Agency heard a series of intense explosions in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. The Ukrainian military reported that Russian forces launched multiple ballistic missiles from Bryansk and Kursk oblasts towards Kyiv.

The Ukrainian Air Force posted on social media stating that Russian ballistic missiles are approaching from multiple directions, including the north, east, and southeast. They reminded citizens of Kiev to take precautions.

Kiev Mayor Klychko posted on social media, stating that several buildings in the Yesyniysk District, Shevchenkovskiy District, Svyatoshinsky District, and Solomensky District of the city were attacked and set ablaze. Staff from the Ukrainian National Emergency Service and medical personnel are rushing to the affected areas for rescue efforts.

According to AFP, one of the explosions was extremely powerful, causing the alarm systems for vehicles parked in downtown Kyiv to activate. The military authorities in Kyiv reported that an apartment building in Shevchenko District was damaged, as well as a shopping and entertainment center in Deniprofsi District.
