On July 23 local time, U.S. President Trump posted on his own social media platform 'Truth Social' stating that starting from that day, all losses incurred by ships, goods, or any related items would be compensated by Iranian funds held and controlled by the United States.
Trump claimed: "The potential loss might be enormous, but this is a fair and reasonable approach."
Last month, there were reports that the United States might use assets frozen in Iran to compensate regional allies for war-related losses. Gholam Arabi, the deputy minister of Iran’s foreign ministry, responded by stating that Iranian assets “are neither American war spoils nor funds paid to its allies.”

Earlier, Trump said he was “seriously considering” restarting large-scale military operations against Iran. He also stated that if the Houla militant group attacks Saudi vessels again, the United States will hold Iran accountable and impose “major military punishment” on both Iran and the Houla militant group.
On the same day, Israel's Defense Minister Katz said that he is prepared to respond to the situation in Iran.
In response to this, Iran stated that it is ready to deal with any ground invasion by the US military and will continue to target US military targets until the US side stops its actions. The Houthi forces in Yemen said that if the US takes military action in Yemen again, the Houthi forces are “prepared to respond.”
