Iran Launches Missile Attack on Israel's Ramat David Air Base

On the evening of the 7th, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement saying that the Aerospace Division of the Revolutionary Guard attacked the Ramat David Air Base in northern Israel with ballistic missiles that night.

The statement said that this operation was intended to respond to the military actions taken by Israel in several areas of southern Lebanon and in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the capital. The Israeli side believes that Ramat David Air Base is one of the important bases used by the Israeli military for such operations.

The statement indicates that Iran accepted the ceasefire arrangement on April 8 under the condition that a full ceasefire was in place along all fronts. However, both the United States and Israel failed to fulfill their commitments thereafter. The statement accuses Israel of continuing military operations in Lebanon, and also accuses the US and Israel of taking actions against Iranian ships and coastal targets in the Strait of Hormuz, the Gulf of Oman, and the Indian Ocean, thereby undermining the ceasefire arrangements.

The statement claims that the Iranian strikes against Israel that night were of a “warning nature”. If Israel continues to escalate its military actions, Iran’s future responses will expand, potentially affecting more American and Israeli targets within the region.

According to reports from the Israel Defense Forces on the evening of the 7th, Iran fired at least three missiles at Israel that night. The Israeli military successfully intercepted all of the incoming missiles. Israeli officials stated that Israel will “respond strongly.”

According to an Israeli official quoted by the Israel Public Radio, Israel will not allow Iran to attempt to establish some sort of 'balance'. The report suggests that Israel is expected to retaliate against Iranian missile attacks. Channel 12 of Israel reported that Israeli officials said the West would 'respond forcefully'.

The Israeli Ministry of Education announced in the evening of that day that classes were suspended nationwide starting from the 8th. The Israeli emergency response organization “Red David Shield” reported that at least two people were injured on the way to shelters.

Earlier on the 7th, the Israeli military said that after their airstrikes on Lebanese capital Beirut, the Israeli military is preparing for 'possible attacks against Israeli territory in the coming hours'.

After Iran launched missile attacks against Israel, Mokhsin Rezai, the military advisor to Iran's supreme leader, posted a statement on social media, saying that Iran had previously announced several times that it would not tolerate violations of ceasefire agreements or aggression against Lebanon.

On the 7th, U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with a journalist from the American Axios news website that he would call Netanyahu immediately to urge him not to take retaliatory measures against Iran. The news website reported later that Trump had a conversation with Netanyahu.

Trump told reporters from Axios News website: "The strikes against Iran have not harmed anyone. I hope Israel will not retaliate. If Netanyahu responds to Iran, it will only continue as it has done for the past 47 years, or for the past 3000 years."

Trump also said that the United States and Iran are “very close” to reaching a final agreement, and he “does not want the agreement to fail due to what is happening now”.
