According to CNN, on June 10, President Trump, when asked about his concerns regarding the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, said, "I love inflation. The data is excellent."
Data released on the same day showed that the annual inflation rate in the United States reached 4.2%, the highest level in three years. The core annual inflation, excluding food and energy costs, was 2.9%.
“Do you know what I really love? I love inflation. Do you understand why?” Trump continued, “Because as soon as this war is over, I can say it right now… You know we have been taking millions of barrels of oil from there.”
Nobody knows about this. So, who doesn't know? Iranians. (They) only found out at the moment," Trump said, "In the middle of last night, we secretly got 22 ships out there because we bombed their radar to pieces."
Trump said, "That's why oil prices are currently at $85 per barrel."
We take away millions of barrels of petroleum every night, millions of barrels," Trump stated.
CNBC reports that it is still unclear what Trump refers to when he says 'taking away' oil and ships, nor is it clear what connection there is between this matter and the US consumer price levels.
