China Condemns US Report on Human Trafficking

According to the website of the Special Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region on the 9th, in response to the so-called '2026 Annual Report on Human Trafficking by Countries' released by the US Department of State, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to Macao's remarkable achievements in combating human trafficking, its negative portrayal of human rights conditions, and its interference in Macao's affairs and China's internal affairs.

China Condemns US Report on Human Trafficking

Since Macao's return to the motherland, with the strong support of the central government, the Special Administrative Region Government has adhered to governing Macao according to law. It has resolutely cracked down on illegal and criminal activities such as human trafficking, and actively carried out preventive measures. Macao has remained one of the safest cities in the world, with extremely low crime rates over the years, even zero crime rates. The vast majority of Macaonian residents and foreign nationals living in Macao live happily and securely, and their safety and legal rights are fully protected.

We once again urge the US to correct its position, reflect on its past violations of human trafficking laws, immediately cease year after year their politically motivated interference, and stop interfering in Macao's affairs and China's internal affairs in any form.
