October 20th, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning presided over a regular press conference.
AFP reporter asked that the U.S. government requires U.S. federal agencies to stop using Chinese artificial intelligence products like DeepSeek, as they may involve the transfer of sensitive data. What is China's comment on this?
Mao Ning said that China has always opposed generalizing the concept of national security and politicizing issues related to science, technology, economy, and trade. We will resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
Previously, Reuters reported on October 19 local time that according to a notice issued by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on that day, the department is requesting the removal of DeepSeek’s products from the IT systems of U.S. civilian agencies, as well as third-party services that use its AI models. The department also prohibits U.S. civilian agencies from purchasing DeepSeek’s products and third-party services developed based on DeepSeek.
The US Department of Homeland Security falsely claimed that the DeepSeek model posed ‘multiple threats’ and expressed concerns about its use, stating that ‘if government employees or contractors in the US use this product, sensitive data could be transmitted to China.’
