Hagel Meets Netanyahu Amidst US-Israel Iran Discussions

According to US media Axios, two people familiar with the matter revealed that on October 19 local time, US Defense Secretary Hagel met with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu in Israel.

According to sources, Haggs met with Netanyahu at the Ofda Air Base located in southern Israel.

In addition, Hagersey also met with American soldiers stationed at that base.

The report indicates that this visit was unannounced, taking place just eight days before Israel’s elections, and at a time when the United States and Israel are discussing the possibility of resuming large-scale military operations against Iran.

The Pentagon and the Israeli Embassy have both declined to comment. The Israeli Prime Minister's office has yet to respond to this matter.

On October 18th, U.S. President Donald Trump posted an open letter to the Israeli people on social media, referring to Netanyahu as a “great warrior premier” and describing him as a peace partner in the confrontation with Iran.

On the 19th, U.S. Vice President Pence refused to publicly endorse Netanyahu's bid for re-election.

"I support the US candidate, I'm currently focused on midterm elections, so I won't intervene in Israeli elections," Wan said in a program. He added, "I don't oppose supporting him and will not endorse supporting him. I won't intervene in the Israeli election."

The Wall Street Journal states that Vance has a different approach to US-Israel relations compared to Trump. He has publicly accused certain members of the Israeli government of trying to manipulate public opinion, aiming to change the American public's perception and prolong this war indefinitely. This is not done for any specific purpose; it is simply an attempt to keep the war going indefinitely.
