Putin: No Defeat for Russia in Ukraine

On October 22nd local time, Russian President Putin spoke with Russian National Television reporter Pavel Zarubin in Moscow. He stated that it is impossible to defeat Russia on the battlefield, and it is also unrealistic to allow Russia to suffer a strategic defeat. He believed that those who have long attempted to bring Russia to a strategic defeat will eventually realize the truth and understand that maintaining friendly relations with Russia is the better choice.

According to an interview published on the Kremlin's official website that day, Putin made the above statement when discussing the situation in Ukraine and European policies towards Russia.

Putin said that some European countries are constantly exaggerating Russia's threats and are preparing to wage war against Russia. He described this approach as "political schizophrenia" and hoped that this situation could end.

Putin said that those who have always tried to cause strategic failures to Russia still exist today. But they will eventually come to realize the reality and understand that it is in their own interests to maintain friendly relations with Russia.

Putin pointed out that from the current political process in Europe, it is clear that European people do not want to engage in war with Russia. He emphasized, "I hope they will hear our voice: we too do not want war, and we are not prepared to engage in any war with Europe."

Regarding the Ukraine issue, Putin criticized the Ukrainian leadership for demanding continuous funding, weapons, and military equipment from other countries. He said that Russia is willing to resolve the conflict through negotiations, but if the Ukrainian side continues to fight, Russia will still achieve its planned objectives through special military actions.

Putin also revealed that Russia has agreed to resume tripartite negotiations during its contacts with representatives of the US government. The focus of these negotiations will be on how to ensure the security of Russia and Ukraine after reaching a final peace agreement, rather than just achieving a temporary ceasefire.

He stated that American representatives also suggested that the related discussions need to involve a broader European security framework, and Russia agreed with this proposal.
