Elon Musk Claims Gap in Interests Fueled Disparity in Ukraine Aid

On October 23, Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, wrote on the social platform X: “What’s actually happening in Ukraine is that there is a huge gap in interests between the elite and the common people. The former have become very wealthy from the hundreds of billions of dollars that have flowed into Ukraine, while the children of the latter have been conscripted into the army and are dying in trenches.”

He claimed that some American taxpayers' money would flow back to the United States to fund American political campaigns. "That's why you see politicians caring more about Ukraine than about the United States."

Musk's remarks came at a time when Ukraine's use of "Starlink" and "Starburst" faced persistent issues.

On October 22, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing US officials, that U.S. President Donald Trump called Elon Musk on October 21, asking him to lift the restrictions on military-grade Starlink services in Ukraine.

Regarding this, Trump did not comment, saying, "Anyway, he has already restored it."

However, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy stated on the 23rd that the terminal speed limits for 'Starlink' and 'Star Shield' have not yet been lifted, which has posed difficulties for the Ukrainian military.

On the same day, Trump said in response to a journalist's question about whether he had told Musk to stop interfering with Ukraine's 'Starlink' connectivity that if the issue was not resolved, he would discuss it with Musk.

He also said that day, “Musk will never do anything wrong, I know him very well, he is a fair person.”

Musk previously stated that the "Star Shield" used by Ukraine is owned and controlled by the U.S. government, and any restrictions on its use or purpose are determined by the U.S. military, with the ultimate decision being made by the U.S. President.
