Iran: US Ignoring Israel's Interests Could Lead to US-Iran Friendship

According to a report by the American 'Politico News Network' on June 13, Iranian Ambassador to Mexico Abolfazl Pasandideh said in an interview with the media that if the United States ignores Israel's interests, Iran could become a 'good friend' of the United States.

"I request that President Trump respect our nation," said Parsandide, "and I also believe that if he prioritizes American interests, this will yield positive results."

"What's most important is that the Israeli government doesn't seek to benefit the United States. If the United States ignores Israel's interests, Iran and the United States could become very good friends." Parsandideh said.

As US President Trump attempts to reach a peace agreement with Iran, Israel has become a somewhat uncertain factor. Its ongoing military operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon have repeatedly endangered the US-Iran negotiations.

At the beginning of this month, Trump lashed out at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for Israel’s escalated attacks on Lebanon, even using coarse language to accuse him of being "mad." During a phone call, he also used corruption-related issues to pressure Netanyahu, saying that without his help, Netanyahu would "end up in prison."

According to the The Hill website, Netanyahu’s ultimate goals seem to be different from those of the U.S. President. Daniel Shapiro, former U.S. ambassador to Israel, said in an interview with National Public Radio on September 9 that Israel’s main goal is to eliminate Tehran’s nuclear weapons and ballistic missile threats, while the U.S.’s main concern is to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

This is the crux of the dispute between profit and beauty, as you can see from discussions between Prime Minister Netanyahu’s views and his aspirations for the goals he wants to achieve. This weekend, he attempted to launch more attacks, while President Trump hoped to end all of it. Shapiro said this shows Israel is more inclined to continue the war.

Trump said in an interview with the British Financial Times on the 8th that Israel has no choice but to accept any agreement reached between the United States and Iran, and emphasized that all decisions are ultimately his.

As both the United States and Iran indicate they are close to reaching an agreement, the 2026 World Cup is in full swing. Due to US visa restrictions, the Iranian team has moved its headquarters from the US to Mexico for this World Cup. They can only enter the US on the day of the tournament and must leave within a few hours after the competition.

However, Pasandide told “Politicians News Network” that the participation of the Iranian national football team means they are on the side of peace.

He said, "Emotionally, some people believe that Iran should not participate because the United States has attacked our country. But we are guided by humanitarian principles. We believe that in order to spread peace, everyone deserves the best. Our national team will travel to American soil to compete, and the message we want to convey is: we have no issues with the American people."

"I believe we can use this opportunity in football. If the United States is good at seizing opportunities, it will be able to leverage the World Cup as a catalyst for peace." Pasandid said.
