On Friday local time (October 23), U.S. Secretary of State Rubio openly called for Cuban citizens to cooperate secretly with the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), blatantly promoting what he called 'change'.
He insinuated in the text: “For those who seek to create positive change in Cuba—now is the time. Unfulfilled promises, corruption, and the privileged life enjoyed by a few are disappointing. seize this opportunity, through secret cooperation with the Central Intelligence Agency, to bring about the changes you desire.”
Fox News website reported that, as a descendant of Cuban immigrants, Rubio has long advocated for a more tough stance towards the Cuban government.
Earlier that day, U.S. President Donald Trump stated at a mid-term election campaign rally in Florida that the United States was prepared to resolve the Cuban issue “alongside” the end of the war against Iran. He also suggested appointing Rubio to oversee the negotiations between the two parties.
"Don't worry. We will handle the Guantánamo situation on our way back from Iran. We’ll make a brief stop there," Trump stated, "In fact, we plan to have our ships pass through Guantanamo when returning from Iran. We’ll have one warship park about 50 yards off the coast. Then they'll raise their hands."
Regarding this, Cuban Foreign Minister Rodrigues dismissed on the 23rd that Cuba refused any threats from the United States.
He stated on social media that Cuban coast has beautiful beaches, as well as rocks with jagged edges. Those who are hostile and attempt to conquer will not be treated kindly.
