Obama Criticizes Trump and GOP for Chaos Ahead of Midterm Elections

After two years of chaos, cruelty, corruption, and incompetence, you finally have the opportunity to say: Enough, enough!

As the U.S. midterm elections approach, former President Obama is returning to the political stage, launching fierce criticism against Trump and his Republican allies. According to reports by The Associated Press and CNN on October 24th, Obama supported Democratic candidates in Cleveland, Ohio, and Detroit, Michigan. He criticized the Trump administration for failing to fulfill its promises to reduce living costs, instead focusing on renovating the White House and launching tariff wars against allies.

At the campaign rally in Cleveland, Obama said that although Americans will have to endure Trump for another two years, they do not need to continue tolerating a Congress lacking responsibility, as well as Republican governors who indulge in lawlessness, treat people cruelly, and ignore the interests of workers.

"After two years of chaos, cruelty, corruption, and incompetence—something we have never seen in modern history—you finally have the opportunity to say: Enough, enough!"

Later that day, Obama once again targeted Trump in Detroit, saying that the United States has been filled with “chaos, cruelty, corruption, incompetence, nonsense, and absurdity” over the past decade.

Obama also said that he has experienced many elections, but this year’s midterm elections “feel different.” He believes that American voters are eager to see change and are tired of the current situation.

Obama was particularly dissatisfied with Trump's failure to fulfill his promises to reduce living costs. He sarcastically said that Trump seemed to be focusing more on renovating the White House than addressing the economic difficulties of ordinary Americans.

"I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but he seems to be particularly passionate about home decoration," Obama said. "He should work at HGTV (a home decoration channel in the United States)."

Obama also joked about the golden decorations that Trump likes: “There’s gold everywhere. He turned the White House into something like a cheesecake factory restaurant owned by Saddam Hussein.”

Apart from the White House renovation, Trump's trade policies were also a focus of criticism by Obama.

At a rally in Detroit, Obama sarcastically pointed out that Trump was the most aggressive when it came to imposing tariffs against Canada, a so-called "evil empire".

"These people brought us Martin Scorsese and maple syrup." Obama joked.

Obama pointed out that Michigan’s automotive industry relies heavily on cross-border supply chains, and the production of a car requires components from various places. Trump’s tariffs on Canada not only fail to help the local automotive manufacturing industry but also increase commodity prices.

He said that Trump has already been warned that tariff policies will lead to higher prices, not lower prices. “By the way, that’s exactly what happens.”

CNN noted that Trump's tariff policy on Mexico even faced opposition from some Republican Party members. Michigan Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers earlier this month released a campaign advertisement, publicly distancing himself from Trump.

"In Michigan State, we know Canada is not our enemy. We must immediately end the trade war." Roger stated in the advertisement, he will promote bipartisan cooperation to reduce the cost of living for citizens.

Obama also criticized the Republican Party's aggressive tactics during the campaign.

In Ohio, Republican state candidate Verrick Lemaswamy recently launched a campaign advertisement that invited the mother of his Democratic opponent, Amy Akhtar, who has a poor relationship with her daughter, to appear and publicly attack her daughter. Despite requests from several people, including the current Republican governor, Dave Williams, to remove the advertisement, Lemaswamy refused to give in. Trump and Vice President Williams also defended him.

Obama criticized that Ramaswami no longer has any boundaries she cannot cross, nor any limits she refuses to fall below. He emphasized that the public has the right to demand that politicians adhere to basic moral and decency standards.

With only ten days left until the U.S. mid-term elections on November 3rd, both the Democratic and Republican parties are intensifying their efforts to win key states.

According to The Associated Press, although Obama has been out of the White House for nearly a decade, he remains one of the most influential political figures in the Democratic Party. On the 24th, he helped run campaigns in Ohio and Michigan, supporting the Democrats in their efforts to win governor seats and seats in the U.S. Senate.

In Ohio, former Democratic senator Sherrod Brown is challenging Republican incumbent Senator Jon Castille. In Michigan, Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed is competing fiercely with Republican candidate Mike Rogers.

According to the schedule, Obama will also visit Georgia next week to help elect candidates like Democratic senator Jon Ossoff.
