Late at night on October 25th local time, former Serbian President Vucic admitted that the electoral alliance he led, "Alexander Vucic – United Serbia," had lost the parliamentary elections. However, Vucic stated that he would not "run away," and the Party of Progressives in Serbia would continue to fight as an opposition party.
Vukcevic spoke at his campaign headquarters in Belgrade, saying, "They say that some people will pack their suitcases and run away, that some people are afraid of others, and that some people will hide. All of these claims are lies." He emphasized that he is proud of the achievements made during the tenure of the Serbian Progressive Party.
Vucic said that although some people are expected to leave the Serbian Progressive Party, the party's organizational structure remains solid and will continue to be united and strong. He stated that the Serbian Progressive Party will continue to fight as an opposition party. “We are accustomed to being in opposition. Most of us have spent more time operating as opposition than as part of the ruling coalition.”
The Serbian Election Commission has not yet announced the final results. However, according to reports by the Serbian National Broadcasting Station, based on a sample of 80.8% of votes, the electoral coalition "Student List – Students Win" is expected to receive 52.7% of the votes, winning about 140 out of the 250 seats in the National Assembly. The electoral coalition "Alexander Vučić – United Serbia" will receive 38.9% of the votes, securing around 104 seats.
