Vucics United Serbia Loses Serbian Parliamentary Elections

On October 25th local time, Serbian former president Vucic admitted that the electoral coalition led by the Serbian Progressive Party, known as ‘Alexander Vucic – United Serbia’, lost the parliamentary elections.

Vukcevic said, 'We don't have a final result yet, but based on the stratified sampling results, it's clear that we lost this election. With the slogan 'Students Win', they will get 135 to 140 seats, while we will get 105 seats.'

He pointed out that the electoral alliance he led is expected to receive approximately 1.72 million votes, while ‘Student List – Student Wins’ is expected to receive approximately 2.2 million votes.

According to statistics, over 60% of the votes went to the ‘Student List – Students Win’. CESID, a Serbian polling agency, stated that this candidate received 52.3% of the total votes. This means that the electoral alliance led by Vučić secured approximately 138 seats out of the 250 seats in the Serbian National Assembly. The electoral alliance led by Vučić received less than 39% of the votes, securing 104 to 105 seats.

It is reported that in the main electoral lists, only the ‘Alexander Vučić – United Serbia’ electoral alliance and the ‘Students’ List – Students Win’ have crossed the parliamentary election threshold of 3%. Minority electoral lists are not subject to this threshold.

On October 25th, Serbia held pre-electoral elections. Various political parties and coalitions submitted a total of 18 lists of candidates for the 250 seats in the National Assembly. The voting turnout was close to 70%, setting a record. The Serbian Election Commission has not yet announced the final election results.
