Zelensky Calls For Approval of Patriot Missiles for Ukraine

On October 26, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy posted on social media, stating that Ukraine had been waiting for nearly a month and hoped that US Defense Secretary Hagel would allow the delivery of missiles suitable for air defense systems to Ukraine.

We have waited for nearly a month, waiting for the approval of "A Patriotic Citizen" missile and "National Advanced Ground-Air Missile System" (NASAMS) missile by Herzog. I have instructed our team to reiterate this request to the US side once again. Zelensky wrote.

According to The Hill, although Hessel has continued to approve some U.S. aid to Ukraine, he has not yet formally completed the necessary steps to allow allies to transfer some ‘Patriot’ missiles.

Last week, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio acknowledged that some interception missiles may not have been delivered yet, but the delay was not due to political reasons.

Hegseith also stated that the United States' stance towards Ukraine has not changed, but noted that "we want to ensure that our personnel have as many interception missiles as possible."

"Kyiv Independent Newspaper" reports that Kharkiv's delayed approval for this batch of missiles "is substantial in number".
