Trumps Dirt-Smelling Comment on Norway Leads to Unexpected Toilet Campaign

According to a report by CNN on October 30th, after US President Trump referred to Norway as a 'dirt-smelling country', the Norwegian Tourism Authority launched a somewhat ironic toilet campaign to showcase the country's most beautiful toilets.

On the 25th local time, just a few days before the midterm election voting day, Trump criticized Norway during his campaign activities.

Trump said that he welcomes immigrants from certain countries to the United States, but not Norway. As for the reason, he was quite honest: “Because I haven’t received the Nobel Prize… So I don’t want any Norwegians to come to the United States.”

Afterwards, Trump stated again: “Norway has become a rotten country in fact.”

Now, the Norwegian Tourism Authority has gladly accepted this label and asked in an article highlighting Norway’s infrastructure: “Are these the best toilets in the world?” The article also states: “Norway is making cesspools great again.”

This week, the Norwegian Tourism Board highlighted this event on social media, posting several photos and writing: "What more can we say? We indeed have some of the most beautiful and spectacular toilets in the world."

CNN mentioned that Trump also referred to Haiti, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen as “filth pits.” However, his attacks on Norway seem to stem from his failure to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, and it’s a matter of taking revenge.

On October 9th, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced that this year's Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded to South African judge and human rights lawyer Navanethem "Navi" Pillay, in recognition of her efforts over the years to promote peace and international law.

On that day, Trump openly 'burst out of his bounds', losing his temper during a rally and cursing for two minutes.

As your president, I should have received the Nobel Peace Prize representing the United States of America. However, that did not happen," Trump reiterated his dissatisfaction with failing to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, also calling it a "shameful and embarrassing" decision that left Norway with a "stain."

He also claimed that he did not win the award, “which is just another sign that Norway and all other countries are exploiting our country”; this means that the Peace Prize “has been forever tainted by a small group of anti-democratic, truly hostile to civilization radicals.”

We will not forget Norway. He added.

Norway has repeatedly reminded Trump that the Nobel Prize is awarded by an independent Nobel Committee, not by the Norwegian government.
