Iran-US Talks Resume in Qatar Amidst Escalating Tensions

According to Reuters, on November 1st local time, a source familiar with the matter revealed that Iranian negotiators and the Qatar mediation team held talks in Doha, the capital of Qatar, for the third consecutive day, aiming to reach an agreement to end the US-Iran war.

According to the informed official, Qatar’s mediation representative discussed with Iranian officials in Tehran on Friday. The meeting location was moved to Mashhad on Saturday. The official added that there was constant communication and coordination with the United States throughout the entire meeting.

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Ghasemi said on that day that the 'continuous progress' of these talks was aimed at continuing negotiations with the Qatar mediation. He also stated that Iran is prepared for both diplomatic negotiations and defensive actions.

In an interview with Iranian media, Aragchi said that discussions are still underway regarding a 'two-day plan', and no final conclusion has been reached yet.

On October 31 local time, Al-Aragchi told Al-Jazeera that Iran and Qatar have drafted a plan. If an agreement is reached with the United States, the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened within two days after the agreement is finalized.

When it comes to negotiations with Qatari officials, Arágéch said: "We are making the utmost effort in our negotiations, hoping that the other party can remain rational and prioritize diplomatic channels instead of other methods."

The report mentions that after the mid-term elections in the United States on November 3rd, conflicts could escalate again. U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States would not launch another military campaign against Iran before voting. He also said that dialogue with Tehran had made progress, but did not rule out the possibility of further military actions after the elections.

Iran has stated multiple times that if it faces new attacks, it will target American and Israeli targets located in neighboring countries.

On October 31 local time, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered the armed forces to be prepared for any attacks. The Iranian military subsequently announced measures to enhance their combat readiness. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Rubio said on the same day that Trump has not yet decided whether to launch a new round of strikes against Iran, but he prefers to resolve conflicts through diplomacy.
