Clinton Blames Iran Attack for High Oil Prices, Calls for End to War

On October 30th, local time, former US Democratic President Clinton held a campaign rally for the Democratic candidates in Mississippi. During his speech, he criticized the Trump administration's war against Iran and pointed out that the high price of oil is entirely due to an unplanned attack on Iran.

He said, “During my presidency, we took many measures to prevent Iran from having nuclear weapons, but I never thought that we should start a war.”

Clinton said that war has driven up oil prices in the United States and caused many people to lose their lives in the wars. "You will not stop killing, unless you know how to stop it."

"At times, I have already been unable to figure out this country that I love deeply." He added.

It is worth mentioning that although the United States did not officially declare war during Clinton's tenure, the US military played a significant role in leading large-scale military interventions and local wars, which led to widespread criticism. One example of this was the air raid conducted by NATO, led by the United States, against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1999. During this operation, the Chinese embassy in the Yugoslavian region was unfortunately bombed. The US side tried to shift responsibility by claiming it was an "accidental bombing".

According to American media reports, the average price of gasoline in the United States has surpassed the overall average level during Biden's presidency during Trump's tenure, putting pressure on the Republican Party on the eve of the midterm elections. Since the beginning of this year, the average price of gasoline in the US has increased by more than $1 per gallon, and diesel prices have risen by nearly $3 per gallon, having already surpassed historical highs.

According to daily data released by the American Automobile Association (AAA) on Monday, September 27, the average retail price of gasoline in the United States has been $3.472 per gallon since Trump took office, which is $3.471 during Biden’s presidency. The difference is less than one cent. This far falls short of Trump’s campaign promise to reduce oil prices to under $2 per gallon.
