According to the WeChat public account of China’s embassy in Ghana, on November 2nd, the Chinese embassy in Ghana reminded Chinese citizens living in Ghana not to get involved in gambling activities.
In recent years, our institution has handled several cases where individuals were restricted in their freedom due to gambling activities, suffered serious injuries from violent debt collection, and experienced breakdown of family relationships. Operating casinos and organizing gambling is clearly an illegal act prohibited by Chinese law. Engaging in gambling can lead to significant financial losses, as well as violent debt collection, personal restrictions, and injuries, causing severe impacts on individuals and families. Chinese law has jurisdiction over cross-border gambling activities by Chinese citizens, and no place outside of China is exempt from this law.
The Chinese Embassy in Ghana solemnly reminds Chinese citizens in Ghana to strengthen their awareness of risk prevention, recognize the serious dangers of cross-border gambling, adhere to the legal bottom line, and resolutely resist gambling activities.
