On November 6th, the Consulate General in Calcutta once again reminded Chinese citizens to avoid entering Indian territory by mistake from Nepal.

Recently, a Chinese citizen in Nepal was arrested by Indian border guards due to accidentally entering Indian territory in the border area between Nepal and India. The Consulate General in Calcutta once again solemnly reminds:
1. Chinese citizens entering India must obtain an Indian visa in advance. The borders between Nepal and India are open, with few border markings. Chinese citizens in Nepal who travel to the border areas between Nepal and India are at high risk of accidentally entering Indian territory. Without a valid Indian visa, they face a very high risk of being detained by Indian border guards or police.
II. India imposes severe punishments on illegal immigrants, regardless of whether they enter the country intentionally or by mistake, in order to avoid unnecessary serious consequences and personal losses.
In addition, Chinese citizens holding valid Indian visas must not travel to foreign restricted areas after entering India, without written permission from Indian authorities. They must leave India within the validity period of their visa and not stay beyond the permitted time limit. Failure to do so shall be at their own risk.
For a list of restricted areas, please refer to the notice on the official website of the Indian Home Ministry:
