Pakistan Prime Minister Cancels Trip to Switzerland for US-Iran Talks

According to Pakistan's 'Minute Mirror', on June 18th local time, according to official sources, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz has canceled his originally scheduled trip to Switzerland.

Previous reports indicate that Shabazz was scheduled to depart on the 18th local time, leading a delegation to Switzerland to participate in the first round of ground-level negotiations between the United States and Iran. His role is to continue his diplomatic efforts to facilitate peace talks in Pakistan within this process.

On the 15th, Shabz stated that the signing ceremony of the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding will take place in Switzerland on the 19th, with the Pakistani side hosting the ceremony. It is reported that the talks will be held at the Bergen Mountain Resort, where key stakeholders from all parties plan to discuss matters related to the implementation of the agreement.

Sources said on the 18th that this trip has been canceled, and no official reason has been announced as of now.

The report indicates that the cancellation of this trip occurred on the eve of the negotiations scheduled to begin in Switzerland. Relevant officials have not yet stated whether Pakistan will send a separate delegation or send representatives through other diplomatic channels to attend these negotiations.

Earlier that day, Shabaz announced on social media platforms that the United States and Iran had electronically signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Shabez said that the two presidents signed a memorandum together, and Shabez himself witnessed and endorsed it as a mediator.

Shabaz believes that the signing of this document at the highest levels of both governments demonstrates the commitment of both countries to resolving conflicts through diplomatic means. This memorandum of understanding comes into effect immediately. As a first step, Iran will immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and the United States will simultaneously lift its maritime blockade.
