According to Reuters, local health department officials said that on June 20 local time, Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip resulted in at least 9 deaths, including a child and a Al Jazeera journalist.
According to reports, late on the evening of June 20th local time, an Israeli airstrike resulted in three deaths. Medical personnel stated that among the victims was Ahmad Waseh, a journalist from Al Jazeera in Qatar.
Al Jazeera reported that Ahmad Wassah was killed in a "heinous crime," and about two months earlier, his brother, Al Jazeera journalist Muhammad Wassah, was also killed by the military.
The Palestinian Journalists Association expressed condemnation on the 20th local time, and called for Israel’s leaders to be held accountable for such attacks. Since October 2023, these attacks have resulted in the deaths of nearly 300 Palestinian journalists.
In a statement, the Israeli military said they killed a Hamas militant who posed a threat and worked as a photojournalist for Al Jazeera. However, the Israeli military did not provide any evidence.
The Israeli army claimed that Ahmed Waseh was a sniper, and added that he was killed along with two other Hamas militants.
Moreover, local health department officials stated that Israel carried out an air strike on a flat building in Gaza City that day, resulting in the deaths of four Palestinian people, including two women and one child.
Medical personnel added that several people were injured in the air strike.
Israeli military said they attacked an armed figure, but did not provide detailed information.
Medical personnel reported that on the same day, Israeli troops opened fire and killed a woman in Beit Lahia town. In addition, Israel carried out an airstrike in Al-Hawainnes, resulting in at least one death and eight injuries.
