Israeli Army Issues Ceasefire in Lebanon, Retains Focus on Hezbollah Tunnels

According to Israeli news on the 20th, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz have issued instructions demanding an ceasefire by the Israeli army in Lebanon. According to these instructions, the Israeli army will not withdraw from southern Lebanon immediately at this stage.

There is also news reporting that, after a situational assessment, General Zameer of the Joint Staff has ordered a ceasefire in southern Lebanon.

On the 20th local time, the Israel Defense Forces stated that Israeli forces continue to carry out military operations within the ‘safe zone’ in southern Lebanon. The current focus is on attacking a large Hezbollah tunnel system where dozens of armed personnel are hiding. Meanwhile, the Israeli forces have ‘stopped shooting’ in other areas of Lebanon.

The Israeli military stated that it has received instructions from political leaders to implement a ceasefire. However, the Israeli forces emphasized that they will continue to work towards destroying Hezbollah's armed infrastructure within their "safe zone," and will also strike at "urgent threats" outside of the "safe zone."
