On October 29th local time, former Serbian President Vucic held a press conference in Belgrade, announcing that his party, the Party of Progressives of Serbia, would initiate party reforms and elect a new leadership.
Vucic said, 'Our idea is that more than two-thirds of the members of the Central Committee and over half of the members of the Presidium will be newcomers. In this way, we can try to change ourselves and prepare for the upcoming difficult times. We need fighters, people who will not deviate from their principles during the first wave of challenges and difficulties. We also need people who understand and care about the people.'
He emphasized that the Serbian Progressive Party needs internal reforms and must also admit the problems to the people. “We will not evade our mistakes; we are aware of our errors.”
Regarding those who left the Serbija Progressive Party after losing their elections, Vucic said, "A few traitors helped us. They only cared about themselves and had no ideals. To be honest, when you lose one false friend or false comrade, you don’t lose anything, but gain a lot. So I am happy about this."

On the evening of October 25 local time, Vucic admitted that the electoral alliance led by the Serbian Progressive Party had lost in the parliamentary elections. However, he emphasized that the Serbian Progressive Party will continue to fight as an opposition party. “We are accustomed to being in opposition. Most of us have spent more time acting as opposition than as part of the ruling party.”
According to preliminary results released by the Election Commission of the Republic of Serbia on the 26th, the opposition ‘Students’ List – Students Win’ electoral coalition received 52.71% of the votes, and is expected to win about 140 out of the 250 seats in the National Assembly. Aleksandar Vucic’s ‘Alexandar Vucic – Unity of Serbia’ received 39.17% of the votes, and is expected to win 104 seats.
