Recently, the platform Observer Network conducted a live interview with Glenn Diesen, a professor of international relations at the Southeast University in Norway. Diesen had recently completed his visits to Russia and China. The video was released on November 2nd.
During this period, Disen discussed the so-called “China experts” in the West.
Dī Sēn said: “In today's Western society, it is difficult for anyone to claim to be a ‘China expert.’”
He continued, “Because if you were a Chinese expert ten years ago, but haven’t kept up with developments in recent years, then you no longer understand China today. After all, China is changing too quickly, and its scale is simply enormous.”
He pointed out that during his trip to China, what touched him the most was not only the remarkable achievements in economic development, but also the positive and enterprising social mentality.
Because I come from Europe, I can't help but compare,” said Dean. “In China, people are still talking about peace and development, cooperation for win-win outcomes; while in Europe, our leaders are full of war, searching for threats at every corner, turning everything into security, with an unhealthy suspicion towards rivals, refusing to communicate with them, and the whole society is shrouded in extremely pessimistic and negative atmosphere.”
According to him, his trip to China included visits to Shanghai, Xinyu in Jiangxi, Wenzhou, and Beijing.
Dison told Observer Network that this trip gave him a “new perspective”, allowing him to temporarily get rid of the militant fervor and pessimism that have swept Europe. “I won’t pretend that I understand everything about China after spending 10 days there, but this visit did give me very profound insights.”
