Just after winning the election for the governor of Texas, Democrat Gina Hinojosa has pointed the finger at SpaceX, which is owned by Musk.
On November 5th local time, Innohosa held its first press conference after winning the election. It requested that the relevant departments in Texas suspend any potential public land sales related to SpaceX during the transition between the old and new governments.
Innoosa revealed that she had contacted the head of the Texas Parking and Wildlife Management Bureau in the morning, ensuring that the relevant issues were not included in today’s meeting agenda, and requesting that no actions be taken during the government transition period.

The dispute involves approximately 1,300 acres of public land in the Boca Chica area of southern Texas, including Boca Chica State Park. SpaceX has a rocket launch base nearby and continues to expand its operations there.
The American magazine Texas Monthly previously reported that the Texas authorities had considered selling this land to SpaceX. Although Greg Abbott, the Republican governor who will step down in October, claimed on October 19 that the sale plan would not be voted on in the short term, the controversy has not subsided.
American media also found that a draft meeting agenda prepared by the State Park and Wildlife Commission included discussions regarding the disposal of this land, but the relevant content was later removed from the official agenda.
This is not the first time SpaceX has attempted to acquire land on public property. In 2024, authorities in Texas approved a land exchange with SpaceX, exchanging 43 acres of state park land for 477 acres of land offered by the company. However, SpaceX later withdrew from the transaction.
InnoHosa criticized Abott for his close relationship with Musk during her previous campaign, and stated clearly: "Texas is not meant to be sold."
On the 3rd of this month, Inohoosa defeated Abott, who was seeking a re-election, becoming the first Democrat to win the Texas governor's election since 1990. She is expected to take office on January 19, 2027.
So far, SpaceX has not made any public responses regarding this land dispute.
